Features

Laptop Convertible Tablet

Asus Tablet PC includes a 10.1 inch high resolution Stylus based 2450 dpi with resistive touch screen based display, most likely powered by Tegra graphics chipset by NVIDIA, and laced with 3D accelerator. This allows a complete 108 p resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, as in case of the recently launched EE Pad devices by Asus.

Asus claims that the resistive touch screen display gives the user a feeling as if he is writing on paper, allowing him to not only have an electronic notepad, but also an e-reader and a media player.

Configuration

Powered by ARM processor, the Asus EE comes with a flash memory of 64 GB. It is also equipped with a digital camera of 2.0 mega pixel allowing the user to grab lecture slide screenshots and instantly write notes on them. Additionally, the device's user interface provides tagging support, enabling the user to quickly retrieve and locate information.

The EE tablet PC features integrated WI networking and super fast second page load times and an added micro SD memory support card for expandable flash memory. It also permits easy syncs with a notebook or a PC through USB wired connection port, apart from Micro SD memory card to ensure that all content, calendars and notes are kept up to date.

Connectivity

The EE tablet by Asus also contains integrated GPS support, permitting 3G connectivity with tri-band connection. Boasting a 10 hour extended battery life, the Tablet PC would be available this year in September, coming at a price tag of $ 299 to $ 199 - affordable for those new to the tablet version.

How to Use a Tablet PC

It is super important that you have a general know how of how to use your cheap tablet PC once you have bought it to take full advantage of all the great features it offers. If not, you might be missing out on a few of the numerous efficient tools that it is an incorporation of.

Laptop Convertible Tablet

Beginning with the basics, if your cheap tablet PC is of the slate variety the level of simplicity is increased and all you need to do is get familiar with the style or electronic pen, lay the tablet on the desk essentially the way you would do with a writing pad and start writing. Once you have taken down your notes, you have the option of either keeping the data in your own handwriting or converting it in to typing with digital ink. If you have chosen the convertible variety, it is as if you have purchased additional versatility for yourself. While this type of tablet can be used as a slate, it is used mostly as a laptop because it comes with a keyboard and mouse pad attached to it. This means that you can either use the keyboard to type in data or write with the screen on the pen; whichever you are more comfortable with.

Laptop Convertible Tablet

These models run Windows XP and all its associated programs and features efficiently, so once you have explored the programs you should have no program making your way around the software as it is essentially the same as what you had been using previously on your desktop personal computer. What you will be interested to know about are the great plug-ins and additional software that is available exclusively for tablet PCs. Software you do not want to miss out on is OneNote. This allows you to test and take advantage of the microphone and excellent recording feature of your tablet as well. in this program while listening to an important lecture, you can simple make one small note, make a symbol such as an exclamation mark with it and tap on it with the stylus to command the tablet to begin recording. This will be saved and is easily accessible later with a simple tap on the symbol you drew earlier.

Other add-ons include the Outlook program and PlanPlus from Franklin Covey. As many other tablet users will agree and attest to, once you are familiar with the stylus and general features of this tool, it will become an essential.

Best Ultra-Portable Laptops

As Wi-Fi spots are popping up all over the country and our digital lives are becoming a 24/7 extension of our existence, many manufacturers are venturing deeper into the world of fully functional ultra-portable laptops that can be used anywhere, stored anywhere and perform whatever tasks are required of them. This, of course, poses a number of challenges to manufacturers; weight, size, ease of use, ergonomics... and how to fit all of the power the market demands into such a small chassis.

Laptop Convertible Tablet

The general criteria used to determine what is an ultra-portable laptop and what is not requires that they weigh less than or about 4 lbs and that they be compact enough to be taken anywhere. Almost every manufacturer offers some version of an ultra-portable laptop, though some are better and more competitively priced than others. Dell, Lenovo, Sony, Compaq, Fujitsu, Apple, IBM, HP, ASUS and others all offer ultra-portable laptops. Below are a few picks from some of the better brand names on the market:

Laptop Convertible Tablet

HP tx2000

CPU: 2-GHz Turion 64 X2 TL-60

o Display Size (inches): 12.1

o Wide Screen: Yes

o Total HD Size (GB): 160

o Min. Weight (lbs.): 4.26

o Price (at time of review): 9

This ultra-portable laptop is very well equipped for its price and offers all of the standard amenities that its larger HP counterparts have such as 3 USB ports, a dual-layer DVD burner, built in webcam and so on. Its weight puts it a little on the heavy side for an ultra-portable, but it still is quite manageable. The 12.1" screen is difficult to see if you are used to viewing a larger laptop all day, but it does have the benefit of being a convertible, which means the screen can be flipped and used as a tablet PC with ease.

Asus W5Fe-2P025E

CPU: 2-GHz Core 2 Duo T7200

o Display Size (inches): 12.1

o Wide Screen: Yes

o Total HD Size (GB): 160

o Min. Weight (lbs.): 4

o Price (at time of review):00

Sturdy, powerful and attractive; this ultra-portable laptop is sure to please. A handsome magnesium alloy case gives this machine a very solid feel that won't leave you scared to take it out on the road. The powerful Intel Core 2 Duo processor makes this a powerful tool for anything most business men (and woman) can throw at it. It also boasts a 2.25-by-2.75-inch "Windows SideShow LCD" that is molded directly into the lid, a very unique feature. This little screen allows you to view emails, check calendar appointments, as well as browse pictures or music, all without opening the main screen.

Sony VAIO VGN-TZ150N

CPU: 1.06-GHz Core 2 Duo U7500

o Display Size (inches): 11.1

o Wide Screen: Yes

o Total HD Size (GB): 100

o Min. Weight (lbs.): 2.7

o Price (at time of review):00

Weighing in at just less than 3 lbs, this ultra-portable is about as light as they come. Of course, this makes for a considerable decrease in performance, so don't expect to be running very demanding programs with this machine. Some key strengths of this laptop are its ability to play DVDs without actually booting up Windows, dual operable SD and memory stick readers, over a 5 hour run time and a stylish carbon fiber case. Though it is not a monster performer, this machine will still keep you up and running when you are out of the office.

As can be seen from these three examples, ultra-portable laptops range all over the place in terms of features and ability. This makes it very important to have a good vision in your head of what you want out of your ultra-portable laptop before you start shopping. This will allow you to get all of the features you need and avoid the ones that will just make your laptop heavier.
